The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has reaffirmed its dedication to furthering economic ties between Sharjah and Pakistan, highlighting the longstanding and robust relationship between the UAE and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Strengthening Bilateral Economic Relations
The SCCI emphasized its commitment to evolving these relations into a new phase of strategic economic partnership. This growth is supported by the foresight of both countries’ leadership and their successful business communities, which have capitalized on mutually beneficial investment opportunities.
This statement was made during a business meeting hosted by the Sharjah Chamber in collaboration with the Pakistan Business Council at the Sharjah Maritime Museum, coinciding with the celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Key Attendees and Remarks
The event was attended by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan to Dubai and Northern Emirates, and Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI. Other key figures included Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Business Sector at SCCI, Dr. Fatema Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of International Relations Department at SCCI, Dr. Syed Muhammad Tahir, Chairman of the Pakistan Business Council in Sharjah, and several other members of the council.
In his address, Abdallah Sultan Al Owais extended his congratulations to the Pakistan Business Council on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day. He highlighted that the meeting aimed to strengthen the UAE-Pakistan strategic economic partnership, which has seen impressive growth. Bilateral trade between the two nations reached US$10.9 billion in the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
Investment and Growth Opportunities
Al Owais also pointed out that this trade relationship is evolving into a significant investment partnership, with the UAE committing $10 billion to high-potential sectors in Pakistan, including renewable energy, technology, and agriculture.
Sharjah: A Key Destination for Pakistani Investors
Dr. Syed Muhammad Tahir expressed his gratitude to the Sharjah Chamber for commemorating Pakistan’s Independence Day, which he described as a testament to the strong and enduring ties between the two nations. He also noted that Sharjah has become a prime destination for Pakistani investors, as evidenced by the large number of Pakistani companies operating within the emirate. This success reflects Sharjah’s vision of creating a specialized, globally competitive business environment.
Future Cooperation and Trade Exhibitions
Tahir further emphasized the Pakistan Business Council’s commitment to expanding cooperation with the Sharjah Chamber. This includes supporting trade exhibitions organized by the SCCI, such as the Khorfakkan Mango Festival, and other events that promote Pakistani products while strengthening cultural and commercial ties with Sharjah.
