EMSTEEL has become the first company in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to receive the ResponsibleSteel™ Core Site certification. The recognition was granted after an extensive audit by CARES, a globally recognized certification body. The evaluation measured the company against rigorous environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, underscoring its commitment to ethical and sustainable practices.
This achievement follows EMSTEEL’s recent accolade as a 2025 Steel Sustainability Champion by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), a distinction it has earned for the second consecutive year—the only MENA company to do so.
A Benchmark for Responsible Growth
Group CEO Engineer Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi described the certification as a proud milestone:
“Achieving the ResponsibleSteel certification is a proud milestone for us and is a testament to our relentless commitment to sustainability, innovation and responsible growth,” he said. He emphasized that being the first in the region to meet this global benchmark reflects the company’s role in advancing national manufacturing goals while driving decarbonization in the steel sector.
Annie Heaton, CEO of ResponsibleSteel, noted that the certification marks a significant step for the region, recognizing EMSTEEL’s robust governance systems and transparent stakeholder engagement. Similarly, CARES CEO Lee Brankley praised EMSTEEL for meeting ResponsibleSteel’s stringent ESG standards, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable steelmaking and aligning with the UAE’s broader climate and development objectives.
