Qatar Airways has marked a major industry achievement by finalising the installation of Starlink satellite Wi-Fi across its entire Boeing 777 fleet, totalling 54 aircraft.
This milestone establishes the airline as the global leader in widebody aircraft connectivity using Starlink, offering the fastest in-flight Wi-Fi currently available.
Each aircraft retrofit was reduced from a three-day process to just 9.5 hours, allowing Qatar Airways to execute the rollout without impacting its flight schedule.
Group Chief Executive Officer Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said the milestone reflects the airline’s commitment to innovation and excellence, delivering on its promise of unmatched in-flight connectivity through Starlink.
With the Boeing 777 rollout completed, Qatar Airways is now concentrating on equipping its Airbus A350 fleet with Starlink to extend this advanced service across more of its global routes.
Passengers on the Boeing 777s now enjoy free Wi-Fi access from gate to gate, with connection speeds of up to 500 Mbps per aircraft, supporting streaming, gaming, and work applications in both Premium and Economy cabins.
Since the first Starlink-enabled flight in October 2024, Qatar Airways has operated over 15,000 flights with this service, reshaping the in-flight experience.
Following the success of the Boeing 777 programme, the airline has begun retrofitting its Airbus A350 fleet and aims to complete the installation within the next 12 months.
