Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jeddah on Tuesday as he commenced a two-day official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to Indian media reports, Modi’s aircraft was accompanied by Saudi Royal Air Force fighter jets upon entering the Kingdom’s airspace.
“India places great importance on its longstanding and historic relationship with Saudi Arabia, which has gained strategic strength and momentum in recent years,” stated Modi in an official release from his office.
“We have established a partnership that is both meaningful and mutually advantageous.”
This marks Modi’s third visit to Saudi Arabia, following previous trips in 2016 and 2019. The invitation for the visit was extended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
As part of the agenda, the Prime Minister is expected to engage with members of the Indian diaspora. The visit is also anticipated to result in the signing of several memoranda of understanding.
