dnata has unveiled a $110 million global cargo investment plan, with new facilities being developed in the UAE, Netherlands, and Iraq. These projects aim to enhance dnata’s logistics capabilities and provide more efficient services to its growing customer base. The new facilities are expected to begin operations in 2025, marking a significant step in the company’s global expansion.
Expansion Across Key Locations
As part of its global infrastructure investment, dnata is building a 57,000 m² cargo facility at Dubai South, backed by a $27 million investment. The new facility will be completed by the end of 2025 and is set to process up to 400,000 tonnes of cargo annually. Designed with scalability in mind, it will feature a temperature-controlled warehouse and areas dedicated to truck loading and offloading. This facility will enhance dnata’s capacity to meet increasing demand in the region.
In the Netherlands, dnata is investing more than $70 million to build a 61,000 m² cargo facility at Schiphol Airport, set to open in July 2025. The dnata Cargo City Amsterdam will have a processing capacity of over 850,000 tonnes annually. It will integrate advanced technology such as forklift guidance systems and perform weight and dimension checks on all shipments to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Meanwhile, dnata is also investing $15 million in a 20,000 m² cargo facility in Erbil, Iraq, scheduled to open in July 2025. This facility will increase the company’s cargo handling capacity in Iraq by 300%, reaching an annual capacity of 66,000 tonnes.
Automation and Sustainability Focus
The new facilities will feature state-of-the-art automation systems to reduce manual handling and improve operational efficiency. By introducing scalable solutions, dnata aims to offer real-time shipment visibility and adapt to the evolving demands of the logistics industry. Additionally, sustainability measures have been integrated to minimize the environmental impact, with energy-efficient systems designed to support dnata’s commitment to responsible growth.
Clive Sauvé-Hopkins, dnata’s CEO – Airport Operations, commented on the company’s investment in infrastructure, stating, “We are focusing on infrastructure that is fit for purpose today and adaptable for tomorrow. These investments will help us support our customers more effectively in a fast-changing logistics environment.”
