The Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE) has signed a major agreement with Microsoft and Core42, a G42 company specializing in sovereign cloud and AI infrastructure. This partnership aims to enhance digital services and drive innovation across government operations.
A Strategic Collaboration for Smarter Governance G42
The agreement was formalized in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, and Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority. Ahmed Tamim Hisham Al Kuttab, Chairman of DGE, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, and Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42, led the signing.
This initiative will create a high-performance sovereign cloud environment, processing over 11 million daily digital interactions between government entities, businesses, and residents.
Ahmed Al Kuttab emphasized the partnership’s impact, stating, “Technology is transforming how governments serve people. By combining Microsoft’s cloud technology, G42’s AI expertise, and our strategic vision, we are shaping a smarter, more efficient future.”
Abu Dhabi’s Vision for an G42 AI-Native Government
The emirate has set an ambitious goal to become the world’s first fully AI-native government by 2027. This transformation will:
- Improve government services, making them more efficient and accessible.
- Enhance transparency and security for businesses and investors.
- Strengthen the public sector workforce through advanced digital tools.
Satya Nadella highlighted the importance of AI in governance, stating, “AI is reshaping government operations. Abu Dhabi is at the forefront of this evolution, setting new global standards for AI adoption.”
Investing in AI and Digital Infrastructure
Abu Dhabi is investing AED 13 billion ($3.54 billion) in digital transformation under the Government Digital Strategy 2025-2027. This initiative will:
- Deploy over 200 AI-driven solutions to enhance public services and boost efficiency.
- Expand TAMM 3.0, the government’s digital service platform, which has already reduced offline visits by 90% and made 73% of transactions instant.
Peng Xiao, CEO of G42, stressed the project’s significance, stating, “This initiative is more than technology—it’s about building a future-ready digital infrastructure. With Core42’s Sovereign Public Cloud, powered by Azure, we ensure innovation while maintaining data sovereignty.”
