Hatta Emerges as a Global Sustainability Model
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, recently reviewed the progress of AED3.6 billion ($980 million) development projects in Hatta. These initiatives are part of Dubai’s Vision 2030, the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, aiming to enhance infrastructure, improve quality of life, and position Hatta as a global model of sustainable development.

Tourism and Economic Growth
The Hatta Winter Festival, part of the Hatta Winter 2024 initiative, showcases Hatta as a winter destination through cultural, educational, and entertainment events. Other festivals, such as the Hatta Honey Festival and Hatta Agricultural Festival, further support local entrepreneurs and highlight Emirati heritage.
To attract more visitors, Sheikh Mohammed reviewed the Dubai Mountain Peak Cable Car project, a 5.4-kilometre route connecting Hatta Dam to Um Al Nesoor Peak, Dubai’s highest natural summit.
Sustainability and Innovation
The projects embody Sheikh Mohammed’s vision of fostering harmony between humans and nature through innovation. Retail stores and F&B outlets in the Sustainable Waterfalls project are offered free of charge to Emirati citizens, fostering entrepreneurship.
Sheikh Mohammed’s vision for Hatta aligns with Dubai’s broader agenda to remain a top global city for living, working, and tourism. The development projects not only enhance infrastructure but also create opportunities for local communities, ensuring sustainable growth for generations to come.
