The Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi has announced that from January to October 2024, the emirate’s hotels welcomed 4.8 million guests, marking a 26% year-to-date increase in international visitors from 26 key markets, including India, China, Russia, the UK, and Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, DCT Abu Dhabi’s cultural venues, libraries, and museums attracted over 3.9 million visitors YTD, showing a 21% rise compared to the same period in 2023.
Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Undersecretary of DCT Abu Dhabi, shared these figures, stating: “Our progress has been transformative, as we continue to share Abu Dhabi with the world. We are guided by the refreshed Tourism Strategy 2030 and Culture Strategy, and the results demonstrate Abu Dhabi’s commitment to sustainable growth and collaborative cultural development.”
He added, “By offering authentic experiences, enhancing infrastructure, and fostering talent, we are positioning Abu Dhabi as a global leader in tourism and culture.”
The Tourism Strategy 2030 aims to attract 39.3 million visitors, create 178,000 jobs, and contribute AED 90B to the GDP by 2030. It focuses on four pillars: offering and city activation, promotion and marketing, infrastructure and mobility, and visa, licensing, and regulation.
Key to achieving these goals is DCT Abu Dhabi’s collaboration with stakeholders from various sectors. Developments in aviation, including new routes and expanded airline services, play a critical role in these efforts. The city is also increasing its hotel capacity to meet rising demand and ensure exceptional visitor experiences. Notable upcoming projects include Warner Bros. World’s Harry Potter expansion, the completion of Saadiyat Cultural District by 2025, and the development of Hudayriyat Island for sports and adventure.
