The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), in partnership with LuLu Retail, has launched a national initiative to promote locally made products as part of the “Make it in the Emirates” campaign. The initiative, rolled out in two phases, will first invite accredited manufacturers to participate. In the second phase, LuLu will assist manufacturers in obtaining the ‘Made in the Emirates’ quality mark.
Throughout December, LuLu stores will dedicate shelves to ‘Made in the Emirates’ items. To mark the UAE’s 53rd National Day, 53 local products will be promoted weekly, alongside discounts and additional points through the LuLu Happiness loyalty programme.
The initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MoIAT and LuLu Retail to encourage suppliers to join the National In-Country Value (ICV) Programme. Workshops will be held to highlight the benefits of joining the ICV Programme and earning the ‘Made in the Emirates’ certification.
Omar Al Suwaidi, MoIAT’s Under-Secretary, said the MoU reflects efforts to support local businesses, foster partnerships, and create a business-friendly environment. Saifee Rupawala, CEO of LuLu Retail, highlighted their collaboration with stakeholders to boost UAE-made products, adding that this campaign will run annually.
