The UAE has committed $200,000 in financial support to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Refugee Programme for the year 2025. The announcement was made during the annual UNHCR Pledging Conference, which serves as a platform for nations to declare their pledges and voluntary contributions to the organisation’s initiatives.
Filippo Grandi, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, expressed profound gratitude towards the UAE for its enduring support. Grandi highlighted the importance of such contributions, stating, “The UAE’s commitment to the refugee cause and its generous financial pledge signify a crucial step in addressing the urgent needs of displaced communities worldwide.”
Representing the UAE at the conference, Jamal Al Musharakh, the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva, reiterated the nation’s dedication to supporting global humanitarian efforts. “In supporting UNHCR’s mission, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles of humanity, and dignity for all,” said Al Musharakh. He also emphasised the UAE’s unwavering commitment to UNHCR’s critical work in providing protection and essential aid to millions of refugees and displaced individuals across the globe.
