Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) has recently enhanced its fleet with the acquisition of 300 new taxi plates, purchased at the latest auction conducted by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This significant addition brings the total number of vehicles in DTC’s fleet to nearly 6,000, reinforcing its status as Dubai’s largest taxi operator. With this expansion, DTC’s market share has increased to an impressive 46 percent.
The expansion is projected to boost DTC’s annual revenues by an estimated AED100 million. This growth aligns with the company’s strategic objective to improve its services and meet the increasing transportation demands fueled by Dubai’s rapid population growth and economic development. The acquisition is part of a broader initiative to modernize the fleet and enhance the overall quality of service provided to Dubai’s residents and visitors.
Mansoor Rahma Al Falasi, CEO of Dubai Taxi Company, emphasized the strategic importance of this expansion, stating: “The award of 300 new plates is a key part of DTC’s fleet expansion strategy.
In 2024, our fleet has grown by approximately 10 percent, reaching nearly 9,000 vehicles across all our segments, which include taxis, limousines, buses, and motorcycles. Our investment in growth, innovation, and customer-centric solutions underscores our position as the leading transport operator in Dubai.”
In alignment with Dubai’s ambitious sustainability goals, DTC plans to allocate 25 percent of the newly acquired plates to electric taxis. This initiative is a step towards supporting the city’s objective of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. “This move is part of the company’s strategy to transition towards innovative low-carbon mobility solutions and support Dubai’s net zero emissions target by 2050,” Al Falasi added.
The addition of these new plates not only supports DTC’s growth but also contributes to Dubai’s broader environmental and economic goals. As the city continues to evolve and expand, DTC’s proactive approach ensures that it remains at the forefront of the transportation sector, providing efficient and sustainable services to its diverse clientele.
