Emaar’s Dubai Mall attracted a record 57 million visitors in the first half of 2024, marking an increase of more than 8 percent compared to the 52 million visitors during the same period last year. This solidifies the mall’s position as the most frequented destination globally.
New data released by Emaar Malls reveals that Dubai Mall experienced growth in retail sales during the first six months of 2024, ranging between 8 to 15 percent higher than the corresponding period in the previous year.
Mohamed Alabbar, the founder of Emaar, commented, “Dubai Mall continues to establish new standards in retail and leisure, attracting millions from all corners of the globe. We are dedicated to continually enhancing every facet of the mall to firmly maintain its status as a premier global destination.”
Alabbar further noted, “This growth is a testament to the dedication and effort of our team and partners.”
In the previous year, the expansive and glamorous shopping complex welcomed a record 105 million visitors, marking an increase of over 19 percent from the previous year’s figure of 88 million.
Dubai Mall, inaugurated in 2008, ranks as the world’s second-largest shopping mall, covering 1.2 million square metres. It boasts more than 1,200 retail stores, including two flagship department stores, Galeries Lafayette and Bloomingdale’s, as well as over 200 international dining options.
Meanwhile, Emaar Properties announced a $408M (AED 1.5B) expansion of the iconic Dubai Mall, aligning with Dubai’s initiatives to enhance its appeal to tourists. The expansion plan includes 240 new luxury retail and dining establishments, which Alabbar described as a significant addition to one of the world’s most visited locations.
Last December, Emaar Malls collaborated with Dubai toll operator Salik to introduce a streamlined and efficient parking management system at Dubai Mall. Paid parking commenced at Dubai Mall on July 1, applicable at the Grand, Cinema, and Fashion Parking areas, while parking at Zabeel and Fountain View remains free for the time being.
