Saudi Arabia has implemented and is enforcing penalties for breaches of Hajj permit regulations.
Public Security has begun imposing penalties on those violating Hajj rules and instructions without a Hajj permit in Makkah, the central area, the holy sites, the Haramain train station, security checkpoints, screening centres, and temporary security checkpoints. This enforcement started on Sunday, 2 June 2024, and will continue until 20 June 2024.
Violations of Hajj Permits in Saudi Arabia
The Public Security has confirmed a fine of SR 10,000 ($2,666) for anyone found breaching Hajj regulations without a permit. This fine applies to citizens, residents, and visitors in the specified area without a Hajj permit.
In addition, residents will be deported to their home countries and banned from re-entering the Kingdom for specified periods as determined by law.
The Public Security also highlighted that repeat offenders will face a doubled fine, stressing the importance of adhering to Hajj regulations and instructions to ensure that the guests of Allah can perform their rituals in safety, security, comfort, and peace.
Moreover, the penalty for anyone caught transporting Hajj violators without a permit includes imprisonment for up to six months and a fine of up to SR 50,000 ($13,330).
There will also be a court order demanding the confiscation of the vehicle used in the offence.
If the violator is a resident, they will be deported after serving the sentence and barred from re-entering the Kingdom for specified periods as determined by law.
The financial penalty will be multiplied according to the number of violators transported.
