Dubai South has declared that GEMS Education will oversee a new school in the vicinity. The school, named GEMS Founders School – Dubai South, will be situated close to Expo Road, catering to the surrounding communities, including Expo City Dubai.
The contract was formalised by Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South. Sunny Varkey, Group Chairman of GEMS Global and Founder of Varkey Foundation and GEMS Education, also put pen to paper, alongside Nabil Al Kindi, CEO of Dubai South Properties, and Dino Varkey, Group Chief Executive Officer of GEMS Education.
Sunny Varkey expressed his pride in partnering with Dubai South on this forward-thinking initiative. The mission of GEMS Education, he highlighted, aligns seamlessly with Dubai South’s objectives of delivering top-tier services and amenities to residents. By introducing the esteemed GEMS Founders brand to this significant area, they aim to contribute to the progression of the UAE’s flourishing education sector as part of its transformative journey.
Initially, the new school will follow the National Curriculum for England, catering to students from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 8. It marks GEMS’ fourth school under the Founders brand and its inaugural presence in Dubai South. The expansive 250,000 sq. ft. campus will boast exceptional facilities for students aged 3 to 18.
Khalifa Al Zaffin expressed satisfaction in partnering with a reputable educational institution. Dubai South, he affirmed, is committed to realising the wise leadership’s vision of attracting one million residents to the area upon the completion of Al Maktoum International Airport. This commitment entails providing top-notch services and amenities to Dubai South’s residents and contributing to the government’s plan to elevate the UAE’s education sector.
The school is set to commence operations for the 2024/2025 academic year, commencing in August 2024, with registrations opening on June 1, 2024. It will gradually expand to accommodate students up to Year 13, with a projected total capacity exceeding 2,500 students.
