Abu Dhabi Maritime, a part of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, has introduced a new platform to enhance collaboration within the emirate’s maritime sector, positioning it globally.
The Maritime Hub Abu Dhabi, launched in partnership with the Integrated Transport Centre of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, aims to boost the sector’s economic impact through various activities linking public and private entities.
Interactive events, encompassing crucial maritime sectors like offshore, suppliers, shipbuilding, dredging, knowledge institutes, water sports, fisheries, seafarers, and academia, are integral to its agenda.
Capt Saif Al Mheiri, Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Maritime, emphasized that this initiative would create an unprecedented platform for stakeholders to share knowledge, fostering progress and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as an international maritime city.
Abu Dhabi Maritime Centre: Connecting, Creating, and Collaborating for Maritime Ecosystem Growth
Formed after extensive research and benchmarking against leading maritime cities, the centre operates on three core pillars: connect, create, and collaborate. It aims to leverage collective synergies through cooperation across public and private sectors, fostering growth throughout the maritime ecosystem.
A committee will lead working groups, offering innovative ideas, addressing challenges, and guiding collaborative efforts to promote industry growth. The hub will also support the maritime industry’s sustainability goals, campaigning for decarbonization and eco-friendly solutions.
Abu Dhabi continues to bolster its maritime sector, implementing projects to enhance economic and societal contributions. Abu Dhabi Maritime, established in May 2020, focuses on user-friendly regulatory environments and modern infrastructure development.
In September, marina developments were launched in Al Dhafra as part of a maritime master plan, contributing to job creation, trade growth, tourism, and heritage promotion.
The Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy aims to strengthen the manufacturing sector, fostering innovation, creating skilled jobs, and boosting international trade, according to The National News.
The Maritime Hub seeks to elevate Abu Dhabi’s maritime sector through global and domestic collaboration, promoting knowledge exchange for mutual benefit. In November, AD Ports reported a 21% increase in third-quarter net profit driven by robust business activity and recent acquisitions.
