The UAE’s airports are completely ready to receive guests attending COP28, according to a statement by the nation’s civil aviation authority.
Saif Al Suwaidi, the Director-General of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), mentioned that they have assembled a national team involving all crucial partners in the aviation sector to host the conference and ensure reduced emissions.
Arabian Business reports that Expo City Dubai has scheduled the worldwide climate conference to take place between the 30th of November and the 12th of December, 2023.
Al Suwaidi informed WAM that both the authority and the nation’s aviation industry hold significant roles as hosts for this international occasion. He also highlighted the importance of highlighting the achievements within the country’s aviation sector.
“For more than ten years, the UAE has launched several international initiatives aimed at reducing emissions. The authority formed a national team involving all strategic partners in the aviation sector to host the conference and lower emissions.”
“The team comprises significant task forces specialising in media, operations, logistics and aviation storytelling,” Al Suwaidi said.
Furthermore, he announced that the GCAA will host the third edition of the Aviation and Alternative Fuels Conference in November. This significant global event addresses aviation’s climate role, future fuel production, and expediting key steps.
Since 2010, the authority and the country’s aviation team have played a pivotal role in all pertinent international dialogues under the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) framework and the “COP” umbrella.
Al Suwaidi further noted the endorsement of several ICAO resolutions that align with the strategic objectives of emission reduction.
The UAE also submitted a detailed national action plan, the “National Plan for Emission Reduction,” which was praised by the organisation, he said.
