Dubai-based retail company Landmark Group has announced plans to increase its solar power capacity by 25%. Through an extended agreement with SirajPower, Landmark Group aims to offset 2,485 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
The company will expand its total capacity to 10.4-megawatt peak (MWp) by installing additional solar panels on rooftops and car port locations, including Oasis Mall in Dubai and Sharjah, as well as sites in Al Quoz and Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA).
In collaboration with UAE solar company SirajPower, Landmark Group anticipates completing the installation of the new panels by the end of 2023. This initiative will position Landmark Group as one of the largest solar-powered retailers in the region, generating 17.4-gigawatt hours (GWh) of annual green energy production across eight locations in the UAE.
Rajesh Garg, Group CFO of Landmark Retail, said: “The group is also planning to implement similar sustainable energy initiatives in the other GCC countries, further extending its commitment to creating a greener future across the region.” According to his statement, the individual mentioned that the Landmark Group has made a commitment to transform into a circular business that has a positive impact on the climate, according to Zawya News.
