Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker confirmed that the airline will provide assistance to Riyadh Air, a new Saudi airline. At the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, Al Baker also revealed plans for Qatar Airways to add new and returning destinations in Saudi Arabia, as well as new flights to the UAE. During a press conference at ATM, Al Baker expressed Qatar Airways’ support for Riyadh Air and welcomed the new airline to the aviation industry.
He said: “There is a lot of business around for everybody. We will cooperate with them and support them”.
During the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) exhibition, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker mentioned that the airline may consider future codeshare agreements or provide technical support to Riyadh Air. Qatar Airways has already expanded its network to over 160 destinations and is now focusing on growth in the Gulf region, according to Arabian Business.
Al Baker confirmed that Qatar Airways will be adding Tabouk, Saudi Arabia to its network and resuming services to Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. The airline currently serves Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah, and will soon launch flights to Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE. With 84 weekly flights to the UAE, Qatar Airways has established a significant presence in the region.
