NEOM, a $500B megaproject in Saudi Arabia, has revealed a new partner for The Line. Parsons, a US technology and infrastructure company, has been chosen as the project’s delivery partner. The Line is a component of Saudi Arabia’s grandiose ambition to create the “land of the future” in the country’s northwest.
The Line is a sustainable urban living environment that uses only clean energy and has no roads, cars, or carbon emissions. The Line, a 170 km long, 200 m wide, and 500 m tall infrastructure project, is regarded as one of the most ambitious and complicated infrastructure projects in the world. Developers say it will be built around nature, instead of over it, and serve as a blueprint for how people can live in harmony with the natural environment.
Parsons will be entrusted with addressing problems that influence cities, such as out-of-date infrastructure, pollution, traffic, and human congestion. A framework agreement for consulting services on The Line resulted in the contract being given to Parsons. Parsons will offer project and construction management consulting services in conjunction with NEOM and other delivery partner organisations for the design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of The Line as well as the management of the project’s crucial interfaces with neighbouring NEOM projects and logistics, according to Arabian Business.
This collaborative delivery model is essential to managing the program’s scale, complexity, supply chain, and requirements for innovation. “THE LINE is a civilizational revolution inspired by the dream of sustainable urban living in harmony with nature,” said Pierre Santoni, president for the Middle East and Africa at Parsons. “Closely aligned to Parsons’ own mission of delivering a safer, cleaner, and more connected world, we are proud that as The Line’s delivery partner, our work will not just reshape the region, but will reimagine the future of sustainable urban living around the world.”
The Line’s delivery partners will work to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the ethos of NEOM, with safety, collaboration, and sustainability at its heart. Together, they will assemble a diverse group of experts with the goal of reaching a peak staffing level of 6,000 by 2025-26. As part of Saudi Vision 2030, NEOM is committed to creating a high-quality standard of living, a prosperous business atmosphere, and a new approach to preservation. The construction of THE LINE began in the first quarter of 2021.
