Emirates has unveiled the first of its new A380 planes retrofitted with more efficient engines. This new plane was deployed on the Dubai-London Heathrow service on Friday, January 6. EK003 is one of the 120 airlines that have completed a refurbishment project. This project has upgraded the airline’s Economy Class seats and cabin interiors. The new colours are lighter and more inviting.
“Customers will notice the difference the moment they step onboard – the spacious A380 will look and feel even more impressive and comfortable. With our latest interiors and products, this newly refurbished aircraft elevates our in-flight experience in all classes of travel, and enables us to offer more Premium Economy seats to meet customer demand,” said Sir Tim Clark, president, Emirates Airline.
“I’m particularly proud that this refurbishment work was designed, conducted and completed in-house at our facilities in Dubai, to the highest standards of quality and safety. It reflects the world-class aviation capabilities and infrastructure that exists within Emirates, and here in the UAE,” he added.
Emirates’ newest furnishings and goods are featured in every cabin on the EK003, including 56 of the recently introduced Premium Economy seats on the main deck. Additionally, new colour panels have been added to the carpets and wall panels throughout the aircraft. The interiors of First and Business Class include the distinctive ghaf tree motifs as well as cream-colored upholstery and lighter-toned wood throughout. A hand-stencilled panel is one of the finer touches of the first-rate shower spa.
Engineers will continue to work on two planes in addition to the upcoming launch. The remainder of the fleet will undergo maintenance as the programme goes on. By 2025, the airline hopes to have finished the entire programme. In order to pull off this accomplishment, Emirates employed 190 additional project employees and is collaborating with 48 significant partners and suppliers who have also hired staff.
