This summer, the Dubai-based airline Emirates operated approximately 35,000 flights and carried over 10 million passengers. 130 destinations were visited by the travellers.
To serve increasing demand, the airline bolstered operations during the period, such as reinstating daily services to London Stansted.
The carrier increased flights to 33 cities on routes across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and to holiday spots like the Seychelles, Maldives, Mexico and Miami. In June, Emirates added Tel Aviv to its network.
In July, the airline also added a third daily flight to London Gatwick to serve travellers impacted by capacity cuts at London Heathrow.
In the skies, the carrier deployed its A380 jet to serve customer demand at over 30 cities around its network. On ground, the airline re-opened and operated 32 signature Emirates Lounges, including 25 dedicated lounges at airports across its network, a statement said. The airline had also reinstated its complimentary chauffeur drive airport transfers for first and business class customers in nearly all cities it serves.
During the summer months, over 3.8 million travellers across the airline’s network checked-in online via its website and app. Meanwhile, over 500,000 travellers utilised the self-service check-in kiosks and baggage drop facilities in Dubai International (DXB) airport’s Terminal 3. Also, north of 11,000 travellers utilised Emirates’ home check-in services, complimentary for first class passengers departing Dubai.
Emirates is now running at 74% of its pre-pandemic network, with aims to raise it to 80% by the end of the year. Additionally, a $2 billion fleet refit effort is being launched.
