Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dr Constantinos Kombos, Cyprus’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, aimed at building a comprehensive strategic partnership in the energy sector.
During a meeting held in Abu Dhabi on Friday, Sheikh Abdullah underscored the strength of the UAE–Cyprus relationship, stressing that the strategic partnership serves as a key platform for deepening cooperation across multiple sectors and advancing sustainable development objectives in both nations.
Discussions also focused on expanding collaboration in several priority areas, including economic relations, trade and investment, alongside renewable energy and technological innovation.
Both ministers reviewed the outcomes of the official visit by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Cyprus last December, highlighting its role in strengthening bilateral cooperation and reinforcing the strategic partnership.
Sheikh Abdullah extended his congratulations to Dr Kombos on Cyprus assuming the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026, noting the importance of strong ties between the UAE and the EU.
The meeting further addressed a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly developments in the Middle East, with both sides reaffirming the need to support efforts that promote long-term security and stability in the region.
