His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, highlighted the vital role sport plays in strengthening societies as Dubai prepares to host the World Sports Summit.
He extended a welcome to international sports leaders, federation heads, investors, policymakers and athletes, noting that the two-day summit will explore the current state of global sport, its future direction, and its broader contribution to social development and community empowerment.
Organised by the Dubai Sports Council under Sheikh Hamdan’s patronage, the inaugural World Sports Summit will take place on 29 and 30 December at Madinat Jumeirah. Held under the theme “Uniting the World Through Sport”, the event will feature more than 70 prominent speakers from across the global sporting ecosystem.
Sheikh Hamdan described the summit as a landmark initiative originating from the UAE, designed to bring together decision-makers, experts and industry leaders to exchange ideas, shape policies and establish partnerships that will influence the future of sport worldwide.
He added that the summit aims to align international efforts to enhance sport’s capacity to empower communities, inspire future generations and nurture talent, while strengthening collaboration to define the sector’s long-term trajectory.
The summit also aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, particularly its focus on hosting major international sporting events and reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading global sports hub.
