Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a Transport Data Analysis Laboratory aimed at strengthening traffic management, anticipating congestion and improving road safety across the emirate.
Located within the RTA’s Enterprise Command and Control Centre, the facility gathers and processes data from buses, metro and tram services, taxis, private vehicles and other transport systems.
Powered by artificial intelligence and predictive analytics, the lab enables quicker and more informed decision-making for both large-scale events and routine transport operations.
Mohammed Al Ali, Director of the Command Centre, explained that the laboratory can predict traffic trends, pinpoint high-risk accident zones and contribute to safer, more efficient travel experiences.
The laboratory receives live data from over 35 sources spanning multiple transport modes, working closely with operational centres and relevant departments.
Al Ali added that the system automates more than 150 operational performance indicators, improving planning efficiency, on-ground coordination, response times and the assessment of existing and planned policies.
The lab was recently deployed to analyse traffic flows during GITEX 2025, supporting congestion reduction efforts and informing planning for future major events.
