The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has launched a major upgrade to its nol Pay app, reinforcing its role as a core digital payment platform for public transport. The update comes amid rapid adoption, as digital nol card sales have surged over 460% and downloads exceeded 1.5 million year-on-year. With a redesigned interface and smoother performance, the app now offers new features aimed at enhancing convenience, speed, and usability for all public transport riders.
New Features Enhance Flexibility and Control
The upgraded app allows users to manage family members’ nol cards, schedule automatic top-ups, and receive proactive notifications for low balances, expiring cards, or travel pass renewals. In addition, it supports instant card top-ups, real-time balance checks, and travel pass purchases. Users can even top up mobile phone balances directly within the app. By integrating these services, the app improves efficiency while aligning visually with the broader RTA digital ecosystem.
Driving Digital Adoption and Smart Mobility
The nol Pay app supports fully digitized cards on Samsung and Huawei devices, enabling tap-and-go payments across Dubai’s public transport and retail outlets. By the end of 2024, more than 33,000 digital cards had been sold, reflecting growing demand for mobile-first transport solutions. Downloads increased by over 150% year-on-year, demonstrating strong public interest. Overall, the upgraded app advances Dubai’s strategy to modernize mobility, offering faster, integrated, and more flexible public transport while contributing to the emirate’s wider digital transformation.
