Expo Centre Sharjah held talks with the Syrian Establishment for International Fairs and Exhibitions to explore deeper cooperation in organising and hosting trade exhibitions and economic events. The meeting highlighted opportunities for knowledge exchange and partnership development, while also aiming to strengthen the exhibitions sector and expand avenues for business collaboration between investors and entrepreneurs.
During the meeting, Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, welcomed Mohammed Hamza, Director-General of the Syrian organisation, and both sides discussed ways to enhance their joint efforts. They reviewed mechanisms to raise the performance of the exhibitions and conferences sector, since the industry continues to serve as an important contributor to economic activity in the region.
Enhancing Participation and Future Collaboration
Both parties explored how to leverage Expo Centre Sharjah’s advanced facilities to support major events and to attract more Syrian companies and investors. They also exchanged their annual event calendars to align future participation, which will help expand cooperation between business communities in both countries. In addition, the discussions covered potential areas for new partnerships in upcoming economic and commercial initiatives.
Commitment to Long-Term Strategic Partnerships
Saif Al Midfa reiterated the centre’s commitment to diversifying global partnerships, especially across the Arab region, so the exhibitions sector can improve its competitiveness and long-term sustainability. He stressed that exhibitions and conferences remain a key engine of economic growth and recovery. He also noted that there are strong opportunities for collaboration with the Syrian side, whether through joint events or dedicated services for investors and visitors from both countries.
Mohammed Hamza affirmed SEIFE’s interest in building a stable and mutually beneficial partnership, pointing to the positive impact it could have on various economic sectors. He added that Expo Centre Sharjah serves as a comprehensive platform hosting more than 80 specialised exhibitions and events each year. This, he said, creates meaningful opportunities for Syrian companies to increase their participation and expand their presence across regional and international markets.
