The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), in partnership with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) under the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), and Abu Dhabi Airports (ADA), has unveiled the emirate’s first vertiport network to advance the rollout of next-generation air mobility solutions.
This milestone underscores Abu Dhabi’s growing leadership in smart and sustainable transport innovation on a global scale.
The initiative aligns with the Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster’s mission to promote innovation-led economic diversification by integrating cutting-edge technologies, including advanced and sustainable air mobility systems.
The new vertiport infrastructure will enable electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to operate efficiently across key locations in Abu Dhabi, supporting seamless, low-emission transport, strengthening connectivity, and positioning the emirate as a global leader in urban air mobility.
The network will feature more than ten advanced vertiports integrated within Abu Dhabi’s broader transport ecosystem. Zayed International Airport and Al Bateen Executive Airport are confirmed as anchor sites, with additional locations and intercity routes to be revealed in later phases.
Abu Dhabi Airports will serve as the anchor investor and primary delivery partner for the project. The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) and GCAA are contributing to the planning and regulation of the vertiport network, ensuring alignment with international safety and performance standards, smooth airspace integration, and long-term financial sustainability.
The network will link major urban, business, and tourism destinations such as Zayed International Airport, Al Bateen Executive Airport, Yas Island, Saadiyat, and Abu Dhabi Island, offering swift, eco-friendly, and efficient air travel across the emirate. Each vertiport will connect seamlessly with ground transport and digital infrastructure through the smart systems of the Integrated Transport Centre and Abu Dhabi Airports’ network, enhancing multimodal mobility.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, stated, “This development in Abu Dhabi continues the Authority’s efforts to align the nation’s aviation infrastructure with the UAE’s strategic objective of establishing an advanced and sustainable air mobility ecosystem. In line with our regulatory mandate, the GCAA has introduced modern frameworks to integrate eVTOL aircraft into the civil aviation system while enabling the adaptation of existing heliports to support advanced mobility solutions.
“What we are witnessing today marks the start of a new era—a major step forward in aviation infrastructure that reinforces the UAE’s leadership in driving smarter and greener transport solutions. Together with our partners, we are fostering a dynamic regulatory environment that positions the UAE among the first nations globally to implement advanced air mobility at scale.”
Badr Al-Olama, Director-General of ADIO, added, “This initiative cements Abu Dhabi’s role at the forefront of future mobility, demonstrating the strength of collaboration between the government and private sector in shaping emerging industries. By embedding eVTOL infrastructure into our transport ecosystem and linking it to the SAVI cluster, we are fast-tracking the adoption of advanced mobility solutions while reinforcing the emirate’s position as a global hub for innovation-driven industries.”
