Dtec, the digital centre and coworking space of Dubai Silicon Oasis and the largest of its type in the Mena region, and SD Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence (SDCEE) introduced new immersive programmes to develop the next generation of entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs in the UAE on Thursday.
Ghanim Al Falasi, senior vice-president of Technology and Entrepreneurship at Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Shailesh Dash, board member and mentor at SDCEE, jointly launched the new programmes, which require both parties to develop special courses and programmes to instil the entrepreneurial culture among young founders and corporate executives, as well as to guide them in facing future economic challenges and uncertainties.
SDCEE, a learning and research organisation founded by New Learning and the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship Rotterdam (ECE), has been approved by KHDA, and its programmes, which cover a wide range of topics, are aimed at helping nascent, start-up, and scale-up entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs. New venture development, growth and internationalisation plans, entrepreneurial financing, family business, impact investing and social entrepreneurship, and corporate finance are all covered.
Faculty and researchers from the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship and the wider GCC region will be involved in delivering the programmes, assisting entrepreneurs in turning their creative ideas and ambitious initiatives into reality, allowing them to contribute more to the nation’s economic progress.
“Dubai Silicon Oasis has been designated as a scientific, technology, and knowledge hub that promotes innovation as one of five metropolitan centres in the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. DSO is committed to fostering a suitable climate for entrepreneurs and startups in Dubai and the wider UAE through its co-working tech hub for entrepreneurs, Dtec, which hosts over 1,000 firms from 75 countries. The new programmes, which are in accordance with the Ministry of Economy’s Entrepreneurial Nation strategy, will give Dtec’s community and larger entrepreneurial ecosystem an advantage, allowing them to start viable and successful firms,” Ghanim Al Falasi said.
“Our partnership with SDCEE is part of our commitment to provide Dtec’s community with a truly impactful environment to use, as well as access to a network of like-minded individuals, VCs, and mentors.” We believe that arming entrepreneurs with the necessary information is the first step toward housing unicorns in the future, in keeping with the country’s goal of hosting 20 unicorns by 2031,” he continued.
The National Entrepreneurship Agenda, released by the Ministry of Economy, emphasises the UAE’s goal to become an entrepreneurial nation by 2031, according to Shailesh Dash, board member and mentor at SDCEE.
“We are very happy to work with Dtec, which will be the location of our centre.” “We think that anyone can become an entrepreneur, and our education programme will help them build the mindset and skill set necessary to become entrepreneurial individuals who will be inspired to start their own firm at DTEC,” he said.
“The Erasmus Center for Entrepreneurship (ECE) not only provides entrepreneurship education, but also helps create many promising start-ups, fast-growing scale-ups, and innovative established firms through passionate research and knowledge dissemination, and that first-rate knowledge and experience will further complement DTEC’s current strength,” Dash said.
To develop entrepreneurial behaviour in the UAE, the centre will collaborate closely with Dtec and its community of entrepreneurs on additional projects such as conferences, internships, networking events, mentorship sessions, contests, and entrepreneur days, as well as venture financial support.
