Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has extended its “Cancellation of Fines and Exemption from Financial Penalties” initiative until December 31, 2025. Taxpayers are urged to take advantage of the programme before the year-end deadline.
The initiative provides exemptions from fines associated with late registration across all tax systems, delayed payments, late filing of returns, VAT return correction penalties, and violations identified during e-invoicing inspections. Additional general VAT-related fines are also covered.
Eligible taxpayers must be registered in the tax system, submit all required returns, and pay the full principal tax on outstanding amounts. Applications for instalment plans are permitted if submitted during the scheme period and payments are made according to the approved schedule.
ZATCA noted that penalties for tax evasion or fines already paid before the initiative’s effective date are not eligible. A simplified guideline is available on the authority’s website, including steps for instalment payments and illustrative examples of covered violations.
